City council meets Monday

The Martinsville Board of Public Works and Safety and Martinsville Common Council are scheduled to meet Monday. No agenda was available for either meeting, but the board of works is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m.

Reigning over the races

Taylor Cunningham, a 17-year-old junior at Martinsville High School, is accompanied Friday by her parents, Sandy Bolin and Mike Cunningham, after being named the first Miss Grand Prix of the Martinsville Grand Prix. The winner said it was the first time she had entered pageant after being encouraged to enter by her mother.
